Flaxseeds are the richest vegetable source of omega-3 fatty acids called ALA (Alpha-linolenic acid).Flaxseeds are a good source of B vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, manganese, copper and selenium —all of them provide nourishment to the hair follicles and encourage stronger and healthier new growth.

These essential fats moisturise the scalp skin from within and help reduce dryness and flakiness.  Thus, it can improve the symptoms of dandruff, eczema and acne. The omega-3 fats benefit the hair by making it stronger, shinier and more flexible- so you will have less breakage.

Flaxseeds contain lignans which protect hair from thinning. Lignans are fiber-like compounds which acts as strong antioxidants. They help protect hair cells from the normal aging process that thins the hair. Besides lignans help decrease hair loss due to menopause and hormonal imbalances. This is because of estrogenic properties that lignans have.

The regular use, or even ingestion, of flax seeds, prevents issues like acute hair loss, scalp eczema, and dandruff.

For Instant Use:

For using Flaxseed one time, on just that one day.. you need two and a half tablespoon of flaxseeds and 250ml of water.

Add them into a saucepan and bring it to boil. Keeps stirring while the flaxseeds slowly release white colored liquid that looks like gels and sticky.

Turn off the flame when the liquid turns frothy, similar to egg white. The whole process can take around 8-10 minutes. Let it cool for 5 minutes and extract the gel into glass jar using a strainer. This can give one full cup of gel that can be applied to your entire hair.

After it completely cools down at room temperature, you can now use this gel to your hair.(See top 3 ways to use flaxseed gel at home below)

For Storing:

Flaxseed can also be stored in your refrigerator for around 1-2 weeks. If you are lazy and don’t want to prepare flaxseed gel at home every time you want to apply it to your hair, you can increase the flaxseeds and water quantity to make a bigger batch and store it in your fridge for 2 weeks.

For this, take one cup of flaxseeds into a saucepan and add 4 cups of water into it. Repeat the process above till you see a frothy mixture formed and let it cool for 5-7 minutes.
