This is our clay, Indian healing clay. This clay is been here with us since centuries. Our ancestors have been using it for not just their face but also for their hair.

I guess, there is no one here who’s reading this blog and haven’t tried Multani mitti in their life yet. My first ever face pack was with multani mitti. This clay was blessing to my oily skin then.

Multani Mitti has oil-absorbing properties and thus makes it effective in healing acne and speed up the healing process on our skin. There is this instant brightening effect every time we use this clay. This is because Fuller’s earth has the ability to absorb the hardest of gunk on our faces like black heads and white heads to natural and healthy glow on our face.

Multani Mitti helps boost circulation and improves skin health and evens tone. Multani mitti is a great source of minerals such as magnesium, calcium, iron, calcite which are great for your skin. It balances our skin’s pH levels and also reduces signs of aging.

French green clay or the sea clay is a green colored clay as the name says, contains dolomite, manganese, silica, copper, phosphorous, magnesium, zinc and calcium. One of the amazing benefit of this green clay is high absorbency that has an ability to draw out the impurities twice its mass. The negative charge in this green clay attracts the impurities from our face that are mostly positively charged.

This is one of the gentle and non-drying clays among all others. Kaolin clay does not make your skin dry. It is gentle on your skin and makes it soft and healthy. Although all those clays sounds to be good to use for your skin, not all are for you. Clays are over drying to some skin types and healing to others. Choosing the right clay for your skin fairly depends on the type of your skin.

For Oily Skin:

This is your type of skin if its mostly oily and shiny all the day. You feel like washing your face numerous times, but don’t. It wont help you out, instead worsens more.

In fact oily skin types are the most prone to acne. Trust me, I have been there. As your skin overly secrets sebum, you skin is oily all the time which in turn attracts more dirt and pollution. This becomes a breeding ground for bacteria to survive and cause acne.

Clays, specially Multani Mitti and French Green clay are beneficial for oily skin. They first remove all the gunk from the pores and then cleanses them removing all the excess sebum and bacteria.

Multani Mitti has oil-absorbing properties and thus makes it effective in healing acne and speed up the healing process on our skin. And the green clay removes the problem causing bacteria from your face you have a less chance to effect with break outs again.

Use either Multani mitti face mask or french green clay mask which ever is more feasible to you, once every week to balance sebum production on you face.

For Dry Skin/Aging Skin:

Its a never ending game of moisturizing between you and your skin, isn’t it?

Signs of dry skin include itching and red, cracked or flaky skin. Dry Skin means, you have higher chance of showing up aging than other skin types.

Your rescue skin clays are Dead sea clay and Rhassoul clay.

Most of the time its dead skin cells that are unable to fall out from your skin. Dead sea clay is very much effective in removing this dead skin. Incorporating dead sea treatments into your regular skin care regimen can really help you to get that healthy, vibrant glow we all want, especially after a long, dry winter!

Make a face mask using Dead Sea clay and rose water and apply to your face. Wash off after 15 minutes. repeat every week (once) untill you visible difference in your skin type.

For Sensitive Skin:

Sensitive skin refers to a range of conditions, such as rosacea and eczema, to severe allergies. While many people can have a skin reaction at some point or another to a product or ingredient, those with persistent issues are classified as having sensitive skin.

Those who have sensitive skin, needs to be extra cautions on what ever you put on your skin. Do not just apply what ever you feel to be nice. Always do a patch test 24 hours prior to applying the final product or ingredient or even natural ingredient to your face.

The same applies here too. If you are trying the below clay for the first time, do perform a patch test on either the back side of your neck or under your inner arm.

One of the best Skin clay for sensitive skin is Kaolin clay.  It is gentle on your skin and makes it soft and healthy. This clay is a gentle cleanser for any skin type, extracting impurities and absorbing excess oils without causing inflammation or redness.

Make a face pack using Kaolin clay and rose water. Apply to your face and wash off after 15 minutes.

For Combination Skin:

Combination skin is usually Oily T-zone (Forehead, nose and chin) and dry cheeks. To pamper combination skin, you need to try combination packs on your face.  Yes..! That sounds funny to have two different colored face packs on your face, but you will look cute. OK..May be not cute, but not so horrifying too 😛

For your T-zone, try a face mask with french green clay and bentonite clay. Mix a teaspoon of bentonite clay and a 1/2 teaspoon of french green clay with rose water to form a smooth paste. Apply this mask to your T-Zone. Now for your cheeks, mix dead sea clay with rose water and apply. After 15 minutes, wash your face with clean cold water and pat dry. Do not use soap for another 3-4 hours to wash your face.
